Billy Roquemore

Billy Roger Roquemore, 80, of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016. He was born Dec. 18, 1935, to JD Roquemore and Minnie Eugenia Roquemore, in Bloomfield. He was raised on the farm and learned how to drive a tractor, milk cows and care for his goat, Johnny. As a young boy, Billy contracted polio, but he never let that control his life; he adapted to the right side of his body never being fully developed. He was baptized as a teenager and loved the lord. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1954 and began a career for the city of Farmington’s Water and Waste Water Department and Treatment Plant. He became the superintendent and retired after 30 years. Billy was a wonderful, caring, loving and supportive man. He loved his family and friends. He loved anyone who was a Dallas Cowboys fan! He loved the Dallas Cowboys and stuck with them through the thick and thin. Billy was a loyal fan and owned more Cowboys apparel then someone should own. Billy loved nature, and after he retired, he cared for all the birds in his yard. He loved his pets and cared for them deeply. He had a special relationship with each of his pets but especially his dog, Angel. He loved to shoot guns and was a lifetime member of the NRA. Billy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bloomfield and dedicated himself to bible study. He enjoyed fellowship with other Christian believers. Billy was a proud Republican; he loved our country and showed no hesitation to express his political opinion. He had deep appreciation for all armed forces and displayed the American flag. Billy was proudest of the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was loved and respected by everyone, and will be missed greatly. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, JD and Minnie Eugenia Roquemore; brother, DeRoyce Roquemore; sister, Deborah Bates; son, Billy Wayne Roquemore; wife, Patty Roquemore; grandparents, Henry Spivy Roquemore and Nanny Oldam; and maternal grandparents, W. Crawford and Minnie Bailey Crawford. Billy is survived by his wife, Mary R. Roquemore; brother, Donald Roquemore (Valerie); Barbara and son Martin Christopher Roquemore (Tereasa); Randy Roquemore (Kim); Cheryl Thatcher (Raymond); Sarah and daughter, Beverly Gallegos (Gary); Jennifer Coponiti (David); Sacaunda Markle (Matt); Nicole Rybacki (Nick); 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Pallbearers are Jeffrey Thatcher, Brad Roquemore, Justin Roquemore, Raymond Thatcher, Barrie Roquemore and Dean Roquemore. A viewing will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 8 at the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield. A funeral service for Billy will follow at 10 a.m. with pastor Monty Mullenix. Interment will take place after the funeral service at the Greenlawn Cemetery. Those who would like to can make donation to Gideon International.
